Yesterday, Girls and Football SA Project Manager Esther spent the day at the Barclay’s Premier League Live Community Day in partnership with Beyond Sport. The day focused on how to educate and share best practices on how sport can be used to overcome adversity throughout Africa. This was narrowed down to: inclusive coaching, pathways to work and social action initiatives.
The day was filled with hearing from various football legends and NGO experts who understand sport-based development and how sport is being sued to inspire progress throughout the globe. There was also a time for practical skills learning, where the coaches were sent out onto the field to learn how to put what they learned into practice.
We attended the workshops focused on how to increase female participation in football, how to empower participants and lastly, how to use football skills to educate.
We are excited to use what we learned from the panel discussions and the practical sessions to create best practices on and off the field! A big thank you to Barclay’s Premier League and Beyond Sport for providing such an excellent learning experience!
