Girls & Football SA is proud to have kicked off a new series of workshops with Kannemeyer Primary School last week!
The girls were super excited to take to the field (which had until now been occupied only by the boys). The two-hour workshop was full of smiles and happy faces as the girls showed off their football skills.
Two of our workshop leaders, Fay and Adele, focused on drills teaching girls how to pass and trap the ball properly and how to play together as a team. As the workshop progressed, we saw girls become more and more confident.
This confidence was reflected in the following workshop – which had an even larger turnout than the previous week! Thirty girls filled the field and workshop leader Griselda took the girls through drills that helped with team building skills.
The participants agreed the most important part of being a friend/mate to someone is respect – an important thing to reflect upon as we recognize Women’s Day today.
