This weekend, Girls & Football SA was invited to attend the Cup of Dreams All Girls tournament in Pretoria, South Africa! With 26 teams it is the largest girls’ tournament in the country. Throughout the day (and in the summer heat of the Gauteng province), we carried out our safe-space workshops with the different teams. Topics included, “Skills Identification and Development” which helps girls identify their talents and think about how to develop career goals, “Healthy Sexuality Vs. Abuse”, which encourages girls to understand their bodies within a sexual context, and “Girls VS. Boys? Identity”, which looked at what it means to be girl, what it means to be a boy, and society’s expectations of both.
The response was amazing and we are grateful to have been able to share our work with so many wonderful players. Stay tuned for more photos!
